Columbia, MO — November 11, 1999 — FairCom Corporation announced today a new product launch geared towards FairCom's popular legacy database, the c-tree® File Handler. The product, FairCom ODBC Driver -- c-tree V4.3 Edition is targeted to the thousands of c-tree-based applications developed world-wide in the past 15 years. According to Randal Hoff, FairCom's Manager, Commercial Products, "The immense popularity of the c-tree File Handler fueled many successful applications in the 80's that are still in use today. Most of these applications were developed prior to the graphical user interface tools (GUIs) that are so popular today. The FairCom® ODBC Driver - c-tree V4.3 Edition is based on single-tier driver technology which indicates all of the program logic necessary to handle requests from a front-end application is contained within the driver itself, including an SQL interpreter. The ODBC compliant application uses the FairCom Driver to access c-tree data files via the traditional c-tree ISAM API. All 32 bit versions of Windows including Windows NT and Windows 2000 are supported by this Driver. Additionally, applications that store their data on Big Endian/Little Endian (e.g., low/high) based platforms (e.g., Windows and Intel based Unix operating systems) will be able to provide a 32 bit Windows front end into this legacy data. By utilizing the heterogeneous technology built into FairCom's c-tree File Handler, customers with Unix based systems will be able to easily query their data from any 32 bit Windows, ODBC compliant application.
